Every now and then, an enemy ship or asteroid escapes your fire and bumps into you, and all you have to do is make sure it happens rarely enough for your mother ship to pick you up and repair you. Game mechanics are terribly repetitive: you can basically stand in the middle of the screen with your fire button pressed, occasionally dodging a couple of foes.
The only thing that changes is the color of the planet surface, and a picture of the planet itself in the background. I've played something like seven or eight levels in a row, and always had to face the very same enemy waves all the time, without ever obtaining the slightest power-up that could have made the game a bit more interesting.
